HISTORY

Leading up to the formation of Orange Property Management, our funders were early pioneers in the Silicon Valley internet and software revolution. As a result of deep industry expertise, the company was founded on the principle that emerging TECHNOLOGY & BUSINESS SYSTEMS would transform the real estate and property management industries and allow our clients to lower operating costs and increase profitability for the real estate we owned and managed.
Early in our history we focused exclusively on traditional PROPERTY MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS for properties owned by our principal owners and investors and the byproduct of this structure we needed to invest in PORTFOLIO & ASSET MANAGEMENT capabilities for the general partners and glowing number of investors for the properties that we managed.

Over time, we expanded into other real estate manager opportunities. In 2008, two of the finance and accounting executives at the company established Reliance Associates LLP., an ACCOUNTING & CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTING firm that allowed us to integrate public accounting capability into our suite of services in addition to provide bookkeeping, investor relations and tax planning services for our clients.

In 2011 Orange made an investment in Adaptive Media LLC., a full-service media and marketing agency that now integrates a dedicated MARKETING, ADVERTISING & PROMOTIONS team seamlessly into our property management process. This capability is unlike any other property management company offers.
Our most recently investment was made in 2017 when the company entered the SERVICED RESIDENCES & CORPORATE RENTALS marketplace. This fast growing segment of the alternative stay real estate marketplace allows Orange to leverage and manage units across platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia.
Unlike other self-managed rental property management companies, we act as apartment management for THIRD-PARTY PROPERTY MANAGEMENT groups and other property management companies. The growth of new owners joining Orange resulted from a culture of owner-investor mindset that is critical to success in rental management. Our background as property owners continues to set us apart from other property management companies that have never owned the properties they manage.

About Michael

Michael Marcil is a visionary business developer who brings more than 22 years of experience in building innovative business ventures. Through his career Mr. Marcil has been involved in starting and growing many successful ventures. Mr. Marcil is currently the CEO and owner of Orange Property Management LLC. , Orange Properties Inc., and Energy Media Group Inc., a diversified real estate group that owns and operates multi-family residential, serviced rentals and commercial properties across North Dakota, Minnesota and Arizona. Assets under management include over 1,100 traditional residential rental units and a portfolio of 115 serviced residences. The portfolio also includes commercial retail and office space.

 

In addition to real estate investing Mr. Marcil founded the award-winning restaurant Maxwells Restaurant and Adaptive Media LLC. a full-service marketing agency based in Fargo and Minneapolis. 

 

Mr. Marcil’s property management company “Marcil Management, now Orange Property Management” was recognized by Intuit Corp “the makers of QuickBooks” as one of the most technologically advanced property management companies in the United States in 2007. In 2007 Mr. Marcil was recognized by Forum Communication as one of 40 individuals under the age of 40 years who had made a significant impact on in the regional. In 1997, he was accepted into the Young Entrepreneurs Organization (YEO) for entrepreneurs under 35 years of age whose companies achieved annual sales more than $1MM.

 

Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of North Dakota. He currently lives in Fargo ND and has a daughter, Olivia and son, Maximilian. Mr. Marcil is also involved in a variety of non-profit causes and boards.

Over the past 25 years I have dedicated my time to building innovative ventures that provide a positive impact on people’s lives. “Excellence with Integrity” defines the values I aspire to daily. I would consider myself a serial entrepreneur and have focused my time and energy on real estate, technology, and media ventures. Over the years I have failed my way to success. I never feel like I am doing enough and always know I can do better. There is a special gratitude for collaborating with other like-minded people who think big but shift credit to others. I am highly addicted to learning and always push the limits of self-imposed limitations. For me business is a collaboration of ideas, spirituality and terror that can spark the fires of inspiration and destroy your soul at the same time.

About Michelle

A lifelong North Dakota resident, Michelle graduated from North Dakota State University with a double major in Accounting and Business Administration and a minor in Computer Science. After graduation, Michelle began her career in public accounting, working for a local CPA firm and quickly advancing to manager within the organization. After ten years, Michelle took a position with a regional CPA firm located in Fargo, gaining valuable knowledge of a larger organization. A new opportunity in private business had Michelle accepting a Controller position with a national real estate investment company. An opportunity to start her own CPA firm presented itself. Michelle purchased 100% of the company in 2014 and has continued to grow the business each year. Since then, Michelle has helped all types of entities and business owners navigate the accounting, tax and financial world of business. In late 2020, Michelle accepted the role of CFO with orange properties. Michelle has supported many not-for-profit organizations with her time and currently serves on the boards of local entities. Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband and son, who is involved in many sporting activities
