For Immediate Release

Fargo, ND, December 15, 2017—

Homestead Management, based in Watford City, North Dakota, has merged with Fargo-based Orange Property Management. The combined company will now collectively manage approximately 220 single family homes and apartment units in Watford City. The merger will be complete as of January 1, 2018, and will operate under the name Orange Property Management.

Homestead and Orange decided to merge after recognizing similarities in company philosophies for property management in addition to employee relations and retention. The companies both believe in a deep commitment to and involvement in the communities in which they operate as a way to better serve tenants while also protecting owners’ investments.

“The merger will allow us to better serve the people of Watford City by incorporating the processes that Orange has in place with our customer service as well as our on the ground knowledge of Watford City,” said Katie Walters, Homestead’s founder and President. “Since Orange will retain much of Homestead’s current staff, our tenants and owners will experience a seamless transition as our two companies join forces.”

Walters, who founded Homestead in 2014 with her husband Jake and Jake’s parents, Dale and Sue Walters, will remain on staff as a consultant. Walters will also pursue other opportunities as a real estate agent for Re/Max Bakken Realty which will provide Orange with a continued understanding of the Watford City real estate market.

“As the real estate market picks up, I am able to better serve owners and tenants by stepping back from the day-to-day operations of Homestead and focus on real estate sales by marketing commercial and multifamily properties while recommending a top-notch property manager who can take the reins and protect the owners’ new investments,” said Walters.

Orange Property Management has a strong foothold in Western North Dakota and is uniquely equipped to understand the changing markets in the Bakken. Orange’s CEO, Mike Marcil, was one of the first multi-family builders in Williston in 2007 when the Bakken boom was initially underway. Since then, Orange has added over 500 units to its management portfolio, with properties in Watford City, Beulah, Hazen, Washburn, Minot, Jamestown, Wahpeton. After the addition of Homestead’s units, Orange will manage over 750 total units across the state.

“Our merger with Homestead will allow us to better serve the prospects and tenants in the Watford City market by allowing us to increase our portfolio of properties available. We now have everything from single family homes to luxury apartments,” said Mike Sather, President of Orange Property Management. “Our staff members also have deep knowledge of real estate, from property management and marketing to investment services, so we are equipped to handle tenants as well as owners and prospective investors who are looking for a company who goes above and beyond collecting rents.”

With the merger underway, Orange is growing and looking for additional employees to join its team. Orange is searching for a leasing agent, cleaning staff, and maintenance personnel.
